China. The country of origin of tea. And still the world's largest tea producer today. This is the home of our "Green Queen Sencha". Thousands of years ago, Buddhist monks were the first to grow tea - and passed on their knowledge to subsequent generations. It is therefore not surprising that China has the largest variety of teas in the world. However, the Chinese import very little. Because they drink most of their tea themselves. Mountainous – that is characteristic of the Chinese tea regions. The tea plants that are processed into our exquisite green tea now grow there on plantations of smaller farms. Harvest is from April to June. That's how long the tea plants are exposed to the blazing sun. This gives the tea its characteristic taste. The tea leaves are almost exclusively picked by hand.
